Beloved in Christ,
Summer is coming! It feels like the weather has shifted and the days are lengthening and academic years are drawing to a close. With the feeling of summer in the air, there are a few things to notice about the seasonal changes at church.
To start, the Aegis worship services on Wednesdays at 11:00 are becoming a little less frequent. Rather than weekly, we are experimenting with bi-weekly summertime services. For June and July, we’ll have a communion service on the first Wednesday of the month and then on the third Wednesday there will be a more creative feel to the worship service. In July, there are five Wednesdays so we’ll also worship together on the fifth Wednesday. August’s schedule will be decided when we get a little closer and if we really miss 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, we’ll bring them back sooner. As a reminder, worship at Aegis is a ministry of our entire congregation so all are welcome to join in person for these worship experiences. There will be familiar faces!
In addition, Service Team is gearing up for some summer fellowship time together with two Game Nights. On July 17 and September 18, we will gather with games, potluck dishes and snacks, and new and existing friends. Camp United We Stand will be in residence by September so hopefully they’ll be able to join us for that one. Invite your friends and plan for some great Friday evening fun.
As noted already, this summer will also bring the arrival of Camp United We Stand. We are preparing for a neighborhood meeting about the Camp’s arrival on July 6 in the evening. Then, the Camp will start moving in on July 30. Service Team will provide a sack lunch on July 31 during Move-in. On August 2, we’ll have a Camp Blessing and Neighborhood Open House. These events are open to all in our church community and are a great way to extend a hearty welcome to neighbors, friends, acquaintances, and enjoy some summertime community building.
There are many other summer opportunities listed throughout this newsletter and on the Sign-up table in the Fellowship Hall. Plan to participate and see what God can do in our midst.
May your summer calendar be filled with opportunities to spread peace, warmth, and love,
Pastor Laura
