Weddings
Every wedding is special and unique. When God calls people to live with and for one another in the holy covenant of marriage, it is a joyful event, one to be richly celebrated.
It is the policy of the United Methodist Church that the church pastor officiates at all weddings. Sometimes arrangements can be made to co-officiate with another pastor if that is the wish of the couple.
Our pastor works with each couple to plan a wedding that has integrity and authenticity, in terms of the United Methodist tradition, as well as taking into consideration the couple’s own desires and needs. Our pastor understands how personal each wedding is, so the pastor is open to suggested changes in the wording of the vows, to including readings from poetry or texts important to the couple, and to special music.
Our excellent organist may also be hired to play, or the wedding party may provide other live or prerecorded music.
Couples are welcome to videotape the ceremony from the balcony, and/or have a photographer taking pictures during the service.
Weddings can be intimate gatherings or large affairs, and the sanctuary at Haller Lake UMC can accommodate a few guests or comfortably seat over 200 guests. Our Friendship Room is suitable for a smaller wedding reception, and the Fellowship Hall downstairs is available for larger ones. If alcohol is to be served, the reception must be held elsewhere, and smoking is not permitted in our building.
To schedule a wedding, it is best to first see our beautiful sanctuary at Haller Lake UMC, and then meet with the pastor. To arrange an appointment, call the church office at 206-362-5383 or use the Contact Us form on the website.
