Small Groups

United Women in Faith: UWF includes all interested women.  We always welcome new members and invite anyone interested to attend a meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. More information here.

After 8-to-5 Men’s Group: After 8-to-5 meets by Zoom and in person every Thursday morning at 10:00am for a presentation by a member of the group and discussion. The group started as a retirees group for men, but now welcomes all who wish to attend. See more about After 8-to-5 here.

Phyllis Stevens Memorial Breakfast Group: Named after its beloved founder who has moved into eternal life with God, this group meets for breakfast weekly on Wednesdays at 8:00am. Meetings include prayer, sermon study, discussion, and fellowship at Shay’s restaurant in Shoreline.

Exploring Membership: This group meets as needed, when we have people interesting in becoming members of Haller Lake UMC. The process involves several meetings with the pastor and leaders in the congregation.

Member Care: This team sends cards and reaches out to those who aren’t able to gather together in person and responds when there is a specific need. There is a prayer chain and telephone tree to support their efforts as well.

Book Study Group: Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30, our pastor, guests, and friends gather on Zoom for prayer, Scripture study, and discussion of a timely read. All are welcome, whether they’ve done the reading or not, because each perspective is valuable. Recent books we have studied include:

Disciple: A Novel of Mary Magdalene by Susan Little
The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of Women Mystics by Mirabai Starr
Sacred Rest by Dr. Saundra Daulton-Smith
This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur Riley
Jesintel: Living Wisdom from Coast Salish Elders, published by Children of the Setting Sun Productions
